 Mission Statement and Library Policies

 

MISSION:

The mission of the Wetumpka Public Library is to assure quality library service to the residents of the community and the rural areas of Elmore County.  It provides materials and services to help residents obtain information meeting their personal and educational needs.  Special emphasis is placed on providing popular reading materials for all ages.  Emphasis is placed on supporting students at elementary and secondary educational levels and on stimulating young children’s interests and appreciation for reading and learning.  The Library serves as a learning and educational center for all residents of the community.  An integral part of fulfilling this mission is the use of available information technologies to support and improve the Library’s programs and organization.

LIBRARY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP IS FREE TO THOSE LIVING OR WORKING IN ELMORE COUNTY.  ALL OTHERS PAY $15 PER CARD HOLDER OR $25 PER FAMILY FOR A THREE YEAR MEMBERSHIP.

  1. You must have your library card to check out items from the library.
  2. Books/Audiobooks and music CDs may be checked out for 2 weeks.    DVDs may be checked out for 1 week.
  3. Materials may be renewed by telephone or online at our website. Please have patron number for ready reference when calling.
  4. No item may be renewed more than 4 times.  No renewal on any materials with a reserve list.
  5. Patrons are limited to 7 books, audiobooks and music CDs plus 3 DVDs per qualifying card (you must be 18 years old or older to check out Dvds).
  6. Reserved books must be picked up within two days of notification.
  7. Interlibrary loan books must be picked up within three days of notification.
  8. Please Do Not repair any library materials.
  9. Please Do Not mark or write on any library materials.
  10. Must be 18 or older to check out  DVDs.
  11. The Book Drop is for after hours only.  Any books dropped in during regular business hours will not be checked in until the following business day.  Any fines will be the patron’s responsibility.  Do not put any media in the book drop or you will be fined $5 per item (applies to Cds and Dvds).

FINES AND FEES

  • Books, audiobooks and music CDs…..………………overdue fine of $.10 per day per item.
  • Interlibrary loans………………………….overdue fine of $.50 per day per book.
  • DVDs……………………..overdue fine of $.50 per day per item.
  • $5.00 fine per item for dropping media (CDs or Dvds)  in book drop.
  • $5.00 replacement fee for lost library card.
  • Return postage will be charged for Interlibrary loans that are not picked up by patron.
  • Test proctoring..........$20 per test.

Failure to pay outstanding fines or to return overdue materials will result in suspension of library privileges until said fines are paid or materials are returned.  If materials are lost patron must pay a replacement cost for the lost item before privileges may be restored.

  • Copies:  Black & White $.25    Color $.50
  • Faxes:  $1.00 per page incoming or outgoing.
  • Scanning to jump drive or email: $1.00 per job up to 20 pages.
