The Council of the City of Wetumpkaheld a work session prior to the Regular Meeting on Monday, April 15, 2019. Themeeting was called to order by Mayor Jerry Willis at 6:05 p.m. The Invocationwas given by Councilmember Robbins and Councilmember Justiss led the Pledge ofAllegiance.
Upon Roll Call the following werepresent along with Mayor Willis: Kevin Robbins, Lewis E. Washington, Sr., LynnesS. Justiss, Steve Gantt and Greg Jones. Those present included Tiffany Robinson-CityClerk, WPD, along with department heads; staff members, and citizens ofWetumpka.
Councilmember Justiss offered amotion to approve the minutes of the regular scheduled Council Meeting held Monday,April 1, 2019. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Gantt with the Councilvoting unanimously in favor of the motion.
Under old business, Councilmember Justiss made a motion toapprove a professional services agreement between the City of Wetumpka andSkipper Consulting for a traffic study on W. Bridge Street. CouncilmemberRobbins seconded the motion. After discussion Councilmember Justiss called forthe question. After more discussion the following votes were placed.
For: Councilmembers Robbins, Justiss, Gantt and Jones
Against: Councilmember Washington
Under new business, Councilmember Justiss made a motion tooapprove Resolution No. 2019-4-15-1 “Back to School” Sales Tax Holiday, July 19,2019-July 21, 2019. Councilmember Jones seconded the motion with the councilvoting unanimously in favor of the motion.
ARESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WETUMPKA, ALABAMA,
TOEXEMPT CERTAIN “COVERED ITEMS” FROM THE
MUNICIPALSALES AND USE TAX DURING THE THIRD FULL WEEKEND OF JULY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WETUMPKA,ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section1. As requiredby the Sales Tax Holiday Rule 810-6-3-.65 and Code of Alabama 1975§11-51-210(e) providing for a State Sales Tax Holiday, the City of Wetumpka,Alabama, exempts “covered items” from municipal sales and use taxing for theperiod beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019 and ending at twelvemidnight the following Sunday, July 21, 2019.
Section2. TheResolution No. 2019-4-15-1 shall be subject to all terms, conditions,definitions, time periods, and rules as provided by Code of Alabama 1975§11-51-210(e) except that the time period shall only be as specified as inSection 1 above and not for all years thereafter.
Section3. The CityClerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify a copy of this Resolutionunder the seal of the City of Wetumpka, Alabama, and shall forward; saidcertified copy to the Alabama Department of Revenue to be recorded and postedon the Department website.
Section4. ThisResolution shall become effective on July 1, 2019.

Also, under new business, Permission was requested topurchase a used Polaris UTV for the Fire Department at a cost of $8,500. Thiswill appear again on the next agenda.
Permission was also requested to purchase Holmatroextrication equipment for new pumper at a cost of $37,251. This will alsoappear on the next meeting agenda for the second time.
Councilmember Jones made a motion to add to the agendapermission for the Wetumpka Airport to host Airport Appreciation Day and YoungEagle Event on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Councilmember Washington seconded themotion with the Council voting unanimously in favor of the motion.
Councilmember Robbins made a motion to approve AirportAppreciation Day and Young Eagle Event at the Wetumpka Municipal Airport onSaturday, April 27, 2019. Councilmember Jones seconded the motion with theCouncil voting unanimously in favor of the motion.
